India Day 5 - Part 2 - Khajuraho

Khajuraho is small, 'only' 25,000 people, and the hotel was 5 minutes away.

The town's claim to fame is the Western Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site built around 1,000 AD.
We had a guided tour of these temples then were given time on our own to explore. The carvings are intricate, detailed depictions of the times 1,000 years ago. The grounds are nicely kept, and it was quite peaceful.

I decided to take Flat Stanley out of hiding again and do some photography with him. He posed against some beautiful bougainvillea and then I spied some Indian women with colourful sarees on. I wondered how to ask them if I could take their photo with Stan and finally thought 'what the heck, go for it'.

I approached a group of 3 women and one readily agreed.

Then a little girl in their group wanted her photo taken too, then more girls came.
After looking closer they noticed Stanley was wearing a John Deere tractor shirt and showed it to a young man also in the group. It turns out that he actually sells John Deere tractors here in India and gave me his business card!
Next, a bunch of the group wanted a group shot of me, some of them, and the tractor salesman holding Stanley. I wish I had thought to hand someone my camera! What fun I had and I was so glad I had approached that large family.

We had an hour back at the hotel and I had a bowl of French onion soup. The evening's entertainment was the Kandariya Dance Show. It took place in a theatre and showcased traditional Indian folk dances. The dancers had colourful costumes and performed their dances with much skill.

It has been a long, busy day!
